As we continue to lead in technological advancements, Vault is now entering a defining phase of growth with a strategic $22.5 million investment from the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation (NRFC). This investment will scale Vault's SECRET Cloud and introduce new services such as the AUKUS cloud capability, directly addressing Australia's strategic national security demands. Vault is now positioned to not only strengthen its existing relationships with federal and state government agencies, but also strengthen its relationships with private sector businesses requiring secure cloud storage.To support this growth, we are bolstering our capability by adding numerous key roles that are integral to our future success. Based in either our Canberra or Sydney office, you will take the lead in safeguarding Australia’s most sensitive technology and cloud infrastructure ensuring the stability, resilience, and security of Vault’s next-generation cloud platform

Due to the critical nature of our mission, we're seeking an experienced and driven Infrastructure Operations Lead to join our high-impact Operations team. Based in either our Canberra or Sydney office, you will take the lead in safeguarding Australia’s most sensitive technology and cloud infrastructure ensuring the stability, resilience, and security of Vault’s next-generation cloud platform
You will be responsible for:
- Lead and develop a high-performing Infrastructure Operations team, promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Oversee the design, deployment, and operation of the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform, with a strong emphasis on OpenStack/OpenShift, Ceph, and Swift
- Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for OpenStack/OpenShift and core infrastructure components, driving architectural improvements and staying ahead of emerging technologies
- Own the stability and availability of critical infrastructure, ensuring rapid incident response and proactive issue resolution
- Design, configure, and maintain secure cloud infrastructure processes that protect sensitive data and meet compliance and regulatory standards
- Partner with security and engineering teams to embed security best practices into infrastructure design and delivery
- Monitor and respond to evolving cloud threats, conduct regular security assessments, and lead efforts to continuously harden the infrastructure
- The scope of this role requires an Australian Government Security Clearance; therefore, applicants must be Australian Citizens and have the ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
- Expertise in cloud infrastructure technologies: Proven hands-on experience with OpenStack or Openshift, Ceph, and Swift in complex environments.
- Automation and CI/CD proficiency: Skilled in tools such as Ansible, GitLab, and Terraform, with experience building and managing virtual environments via CLI. Understanding of how these systems support automated code testing and continuous integration/deployment workflows.
- Deep understanding of networking fundamentals: Strong grasp of core networking services, protocols, and the OSI model.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve complex infrastructure issues and deliver practical, scalable solutions.
- Comfortable in Linux environments, including scripting with Bash and/or Python
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product, and security to align infrastructure with business needs
- Willingness and availability to contribute to a 24/7 operations roster, with experience in high-stakes, always-on environments
