This is an identified First Nations position. To be eligible, applicants must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. This requirement is in line with Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 .

About The Role

As the first person to step into this newly established role, your voice, experience, and leadership will set the tone for what’s possible. As Uniting’s First Nations Workforce Acquisition Lead, you’ll be instrumental in shaping our vision to grow a strong, supported, and sustainable First Nations workforce.

This is your chance to drive change from day one to build programs, forge partnerships, and create culturally safe pathways that will have a lasting impact for years to come.

In This Influential Role, You Will

  • Design and implement targeted workforce programs—traineeships, cadetships, internships, and graduate pathways that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • Build trusted partnerships with education providers, job networks, and Aboriginal community-controlled organisations
  • Champion inclusive recruitment practices, working closely with hiring managers and the TA team to embed culturally responsive approaches across Uniting
  • Represent Uniting proudly, engaging with community, attending expos, and being a visible leader in the First Nations employment space
  • Monitor, report, and advise on workforce metrics to influence ongoing strategy, shape policy, and drive accountability

What You’ll Bring

We're looking for someone who brings:

  • This is an identified role for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. Applicants must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
  • Strong cultural knowledge and connections across First Nations communities
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in HR, education, recruitment, workforce development, or community engagement
  • The ability to influence without authority and inspire across complex organisations
  • A passion for social impact and a drive to create real, meaningful opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication, planning, and project delivery skills

Bonus Points For

  • Experience working in the community services or not-for-profit sector
  • Tertiary qualifications in Education, HR, Business, or similar
  • A current driver's licence and willingness to travel across NSW and ACT
