The future of gas and electrification
- Gas is an essential service in Victoria, and it will be for decades to come. Our priority is to continue safe and reliable gas supply to our gas distribution customers in Western Victoria.
- We believe there is potential for the gas network to play a role for supporting the energy system through the transition with renewable gas. The challenges this brings to the Gas Network are interesting and complex to solve.
- Maintaining a safe and reliable gas network, supporting price stability, and seeking equitable outcomes for customers through the energy transition will require ongoing dialogue and a coordinated approach.
Purposeful work with genuinely good people. That’s refreshing.
As the Manager of Asset Management & Engineering, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of asset management, engineering, and analytical professionals, driving the performance of AusNet’s Gas Network. Beyond technical expertise, success in this role requires strong influencing skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships across and beyond the Gas Network—fostering collaboration and alignment with broader business objectives.
The ideal candidate is analytical, industry-aware, confident in navigating complex challenges, and a natural collaborator and influencer who builds strong relationships to drive meaningful impact.
With a Hybrid split (Office/WFH), this role is based in South Bank and is part of the Network Management Team, with occasional travel to site within Victoria.

- Drive Risk Assessments on key Asset risks identified. Ensure risks are documented, managed and communicated via Asset Operational Risk Registers and asset defect register
- Ensure investment scopes are efficient and consider the future network strategy
- Responsible for a consolidated view to Asset Replacement programs and other Opex related work programs. Support the enterprise Capex, Opex and Access Arrangement Planning cycles
You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:
- Extensive experience in Asset Management and industry experience
- Demonstrated operational management experience and strong people leadership
- Comprehension of the technical and economic regulation governing gas networks
- Proven ability to influence change in a dynamic environment
- Demonstrated ability to develop relationships internally and externally, and lead initiatives to successfully deliver business outcomes
