Student Success Advisor - Hybrid
RMIT Online

Permanent, Part Time (0.8)
1 day in office per week
Who Is RMIT Online?
We’re not just another online education provider; we’re pioneers in delivering future-ready skills through engaging, practical courses designed to help learners excel in their careers. Our mission? To foster a community of lifelong learners equipped to meet the demands of the future workforce.
Why Work With Us?
Our perks are off the charts! We’ve mastered the art of flexibility with a hybrid model that lets you work remotely whilst still connecting in person regularly. We’re passionate about continuous learning and offer exciting opportunities to engage with industry leaders and cutting-edge technology.
About the Role
This is a permanent part-time (0.8 FTE) role with truly outstanding flexibility. You can choose to work:
- 4 days per week, 9am–5pm, or
- 5 days per week, 9am–3:30pm
Tuesdays are our team day in the Melbourne office, with a big focus on collaboration (and a healthy dose of fun), but beyond that you’re free to choose whether your day off is Monday, Wednesday or Friday. We trust our people to design the rhythm that works best for them – and we really mean that.
Let’s talk about what you’ll do
Reporting to the Student Success Team Leader, you’ll play a direct and meaningful role in shaping our students’ experience from start to finish – with a particular focus on coaching, retention and progression.
You’ll enable students to succeed by guiding them throughout their learning journey. You’re their voice of encouragement and their problem-solver!
You’ll be in regular contact with students, especially over the phone, so you’ll need to be confident and warm with your communication, and comfortable using multiple channels. You’ll also need a keen eye for detail, a high level of organisation, and a naturally empathetic approach.
You’ll be using tools like CRMs, Student Management Platforms, Slack and Salesforce – don’t worry if you haven’t used them all before, but you should be tech-curious and willing to learn.
You must also hold a Working With Children Check or be willing to apply for one.
What’s a typical week like?
We kick off most days with a quick morning stand-up, where we connect, plan priorities, and coordinate lunch breaks to ensure phone lines are always covered.
You’ll make around 40–50 calls per day during campaign periods, reminding students about key dates, offering encouragement, and guiding them through challenges. You’ll also handle inbound enquiries, process extension requests, deferrals and withdrawals – all while keeping your calm, caring manner and that razor-sharp attention to detail.
And when things get tricky, you’ll never feel alone. You’ll be supported by a manager who is genuinely empathetic, kind and present, and a team that has your back every step of the way.
Team Culture: What makes us special?
Psychological safety is at the heart of how we work. We lead with compassion, transparency and trust. You’ll find a team that openly supports one another, shares ideas, debriefs on challenges, and celebrates wins – big and small.
We also have a brilliant little ritual called Secret Smiles – an anonymous way to shout out teammates who’ve made your day or delivered amazing work.
We celebrate life milestones, work performance and everything in between; we come together through our shared ethos of compassionate, high-impact student support.
Let’s talk about you
- You’re empathetic, resilient and solution-focused
- You love connecting with people and making a difference
- You’ve likely worked in customer service, education or admin
- You enjoy coaching, mentoring, and being part of a collaborative team
- You’re tech-comfortable and love learning new tools
- You’re a good egg – motivated, reliable, compassionate and fun (a good sense of humour is a bonus!)
Why this role is a game-changer for your career
This role gives you exposure to almost every area of the business, including stakeholders at RMIT University. The Student Success team touches every part of the student journey, so you’ll gain cross-functional experience and opportunities to grow your skills in meaningful ways.
