The Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, this position will prepare and present timely and accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis to Community Managers to support the effective financial management of our Aveo retirement communities. Working within a portfolio, you will thrive in managing and developing positive relationships with stakeholders, such as residents & committees and by partnering with Community Managers in the presentation of budgets, annual financial statements and quarterly financial statements. In this highly dynamic role, you will leverage your existing skills in delivering a high level of accounting standards to benefit Aveo residents and the broader business.
We have a permanent full-time opportunity available, working Monday-Friday in our Newstead Corporate Office.

You will
- Leverage data-driven dashboards to perform variance analysis and identify key focus areas.
- Prepare and present quarterly financial statements and ad hoc monthly reports to key stakeholders.
- Coordinate annual audits and ensure financial statements are finalised within legislated timeframes.
- Ensure accurate GST coding and maintain compliant Balance Sheet reconciliations for allocated communities.
- Lead the preparation of Annual Budgets in collaboration with Community Managers, Regional Operations Managers and Resident Committees.
- Act as the primary finance contact for Community Managers, providing accounting and administrative support.
- Support and guide Financial Operations team members to ensure a positive and productive team culture.
- Build strong relationships with Resident Committees and assist with resolving financial concerns in consultation with key stakeholders.
- Assist in standardising finance processes and driving improvement initiatives across the portfolio.
- Champion continuous improvement and contribute to the efficiency and consistency of financial operations.
What you'll bring
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting or a related field; CPA or CA qualification preferred
- Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within Property, Retirement Living or Body Corporate Management
- Strong understanding of Retirement Villages and Aged Care legislation, accounting standards and internal finance processes (Highly desired, not essential)
- Ability to deliver high-quality financial insights and manage competing priorities under tight deadlines
- Skilled in handling large datasets and applying a risk-based approach to financial accountability
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confident across other financial systems
- Excellent communicator with the ability to influence, build relationships and tailor messaging to diverse stakeholders
- Two COVID-19 Vaccinations (required)
