Position Summary
The Event Sales and Experience Manager position is responsible for selling, managing, and planning all social and corporate-related events. The responsibilities include selling event spaces, providing food and beverage service, managing guestrooms, and offering other hotel services. The role is required to secure and service the Event Sales business from the social and corporate markets, through active and effective promotion, solicitation, and prospecting, so that the hotel is positioned to exceed financial targets. Plans meetings, events and weddings, coordinates with Hotel Operations, Food and Beverage management, Room Division Operations, Finance and external suppliers.

The Event Sales and Experience Manager position is responsible for selling, managing, and planning all social and corporate-related events. The Role
- Actively solicit new business and respond to inquiries courteously and efficiently, following through to make sure problems are resolved satisfactorily.
- Conduct hotel tours and entertain meeting planners, social event organisers, and wedding planners.
- Finalised the requirements of confirmed maximising while maximising revenue potential through upselling and ensuring effective communication (Resumes, BEO, Daily Reports). Ensure the accuracy of Banquet checks and provide bill review upon completion of the program or event.
- Knowledge of audio-visual equipment, internet and hybrid technology.
- Conducts extensive competitor research and maintains excellent product knowledge of the hotel.
- Ensure contracts are signed, payment policies are adhered to, and services contracted are handed over to Banquet Operations with all details clarified and detailed to ensure total customer satisfaction is achieved.
- To follow all Capella Events Standards for answering phone enquiries, handling email enquiries, preparing proposals and contracts, conducting Hotel Tours, planning Events, creating Event Confirmations, Event execution and Event follow-up.
- To maintain complete records of all sales agreements, contracts and quotes for the hotel as per Capella’s Policies & Procedures.
- Be primarily responsible for planning and executing MICE events with a face-to-face client contact.
- Obtain all the clients’ event requirements and communicate this information to the Guidance Team and operational Department Heads through a group resume.
- Upsell all confirmed events to capitalise on additional revenue opportunities for rooms and catering.
- To attend (and prepare for) a daily briefing, Event Confirmation and MICE Communication meetings and any other meetings as required.
- Secure and promote the health, safety, and welfare of colleagues at Capella Sydney, within Event Service and the hotel as a whole.
- Hospitality or Sales/ Marketing tertiary qualifications are preferred
- Experiences: 3-5 years of previous catering sales or events environment experience in luxury hotels/resorts or the hospitality sector
- Knowledge of Hotel Property and Catering Management Systems (OPERA)
- Proficient in Social Tables, MS Word, Excel, Outlook
- Proven experience in providing administration support
