Racing Victoria is seeking an experienced and visionary General Manager – Content & Broadcast to lead the evolution of our premium, multi-platform racing media ecosystem. As a senior leader reporting to the EGM Media, Content & Marketing, you’ll drive audience growth, deliver high-impact content, and align strategy across our broadcast, digital and social platforms. This is a rare opportunity to shape the editorial, creative and commercial direction of one of Australia’s most dynamic sports media brands, Racing.com, as well as our other broadcast, digital, social and commercial formats.
About the Role
This critical leadership role is responsible for delivering Racing Victoria’s content and broadcast strategy across television, digital platforms, social media, and publications. You’ll guide a team of specialists and work closely with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure Racing.com remains a world-class, innovative, and audience-first platform and that our content is optimised to drive audience growth for the Victorian Thoroughbred Racing Industry. You’ll bring together storytelling, broadcast delivery, live production, and commercial integration into a cohesive, forward-thinking content operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and evolve a unified content strategy across broadcast, digital and social channels.
- Oversee raceday coverage, feature content, commercial integrations and editorial storytelling.
- Drive innovation in live production and digital storytelling to strengthen audience engagement.
- Lead and inspire a high-performing team of content, broadcast and media operations leaders.
- Partner with commercial and marketing teams to support sponsorship, wagering, and club promotions.
- Manage relationships with broadcast and media partners, both local and international.
- Oversee operational planning, scheduling, resourcing, and budgeting across content and broadcast teams.
About You
You are a proven media leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and understands how to align content with brand, audience, and commercial goals. You’re strategic yet hands-on, a natural team builder, and bring deep experience across live production, digital content, and editorial operations.
What you’ll bring
- Demonstrated and sustained success in managing large teams across broadcast and digital environments — ideally in sport or entertainment.
- Deep understanding of audience-centric sports or racing content, with strong instincts across tone, storytelling, and timing.
- Proven results and outcomes in high-volume, multi-platform content environments.
- Strong understanding of audience behaviour, sports media trends, and content performance metrics.
- Ability to align storytelling with commercial, brand and industry objectives.
- Experience working with broadcasters, OTT platforms, or digital publishers.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and crisis response skills.
