**What’s the role?**
The Herald Sun is looking for a dynamic and creative Video Producer to help shape our video storytelling and drive audience growth across our digital platforms. This role is crucial in producing high-quality video content that increases engagement, expands our reach, and ultimately drives new subscriptions.
You’ll be responsible for creating compelling video content for our website and app, ensuring our on-platform audience is informed and engaged. Your work will help bring the brand’s biggest stories to life through video, encouraging more readers to subscribe, whilst maximising reach and engagement.
We’re looking for someone who is a proactive storyteller, confident in pitching ideas and working with journalists to enhance video coverage. You’ll need to balance newsroom demands with a deep understanding of digital audiences, ensuring our video content delivers real impact.
This role is based in our Melbourne office, 5 days a week and will include rotating weekend shifts.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ **Video storytelling** : Produce high-quality video packages that inform, entertain, and engage Herald Sun’s audience.
+ **Daily content creation** : Pitch and execute original video ideas for news, entertainment, lifestyle and sport
+ **Editing & post-production** : Cut and package full-length videos for the website and shorter, high-impact clips for social media.
+ **Filming & sourcing content** : Confidently shoot, source, and produce video content that aligns with our editorial and audience strategy.
+ **Collaboration:** Work closely with journalists and newsroom teams to elevate news storytelling through video.
+ **Analytics & insights** : Track video performance and use data to refine and optimise content strategies.
**Who are you?**
+ 3+ years of experience in video production, editing, and content creation.
+ Proficiency in Adobe Premiere
+ Strong understanding of social video best practices.
+ Sharp news judgment – you know what makes a compelling story.
+ A proactive, creative mindset – someone who can spot opportunities and run with ideas.
+ Excellent time management and multitasking skills in a fast-paced newsroom.
+ Strong communication and collaboration skills to work across teams and stakeholders.
