We are currently seeking a Survey Manager to join a major renewable energy and infrastructure project in regional New South Wales. This high-profile assignment involves significant underground and surface works, including TBM tunnelling, and is considered one of the most important engineering projects currently underway in Australia.


Role Overview

The Survey Manager will serve as the key technical and operational interface between field survey teams and the engineering department. This role is essential in managing high-precision surveying processes during tunnelling works, with a strong focus on TBM operations, while also supporting Drill & Blast activities as required. The successful candidate will lead the implementation of advanced survey technology, data control procedures, and quality standards throughout all phases of underground and surface works.


Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all surveying activities on-site and off-site
  • Lead and supervise the interface between site surveyors and the technical office
  • Ensure the quality, consistency, and accuracy of surveying data and systems
  • Support TBM excavation activities with alignment, control, and tolerance monitoring
  • Manage survey subcontractors and ensure all deliverables comply with project standards
  • Assist with resolving non-conformities (NCRs), RFIs, and client correspondence related to survey work
  • Collaborate on the review of permanent design aspects from a survey perspective
  • Maintain calibration logs and ensure regular certification of survey equipment
  • Support project handover activities and provide coverage for leave or increased demand
  • Oversee plano-altimetric control for shafts and tunnels in line with required frequencies and tolerances


Requirements

  • Degree in Surveying Engineering or a closely related field
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in large-scale infrastructure or tunnelling projects involving TBM
  • Demonstrated leadership in survey management on complex international or local projects
  • Experience in Drill & Blast environments is an advantage
  • Proficient in Leica Cloud, Leica Cyclone, and Starnet
  • Fluent in English (C1 level or above)
  • Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel between sites
  • Strong leadership, coordination, and technical problem-solving skills
  • Australian experience is valued but not mandatory
  • Visa sponsorship is available for eligible international candidates


Location and Living Arrangements

This position is based in Cooma, NSW, with flexibility depending on where the candidate resides:

If residing in Cooma:

  • Fully covered accommodation for the employee and their family from day one
  • Transport to and from Cooma at the beginning and end of the assignment
  • Company vehicle and fuel included for local use

If residing in Sydney, Melbourne or Canberra:

  • Attendance on-site in Cooma is required twice per month
  • Fuel costs for round trips to Cooma are covered
  • Accommodation in the home city is not included
