We are currently seeking a Lead Project Engineer to join our Simberi Expansion Project team. This a full time permanent position based remotely anywhere in Queensland with extensive travel to our site in Papua New Guinea.
Reporting to the Project Manager you will be responsible for leading and managing the team of project engineers from different disciplines who oversee engineering designs, project planning, budgeting, and execution while ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements and the project plan.

Reporting to the Project Manager you will be responsible for leading and managing the team of project engineers from different disciplines who oversee engineering designs, project planning, budgeting, and execution while ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements and the project plan.
The opportunity
- Overseeing engineering design, procurement, and construction activities and monitor progress.
- Providing technical expertise to the construction team and resolve on-site technical issues.
- Reviewing and approving engineering drawings, designs, and specifications, participating in risk assessment and design reviews.
- Oversee planning and scope development of all projects required to be executed by the site project team including change management.
- Delivering successful project outcomes measured in terms of safety, time, cost and quality.
- Liaising with internal stakeholders and contractors to ensure business needs are catered for during the scoping, planning, execution and close-out of projects.
- Assisting with the construction supervision and ensuring all construction activities comply with the required quality standards. Project management of assigned projects.
- Assisting project control manager in budget planning and forecasting.
- Preparing and present project updates, technical reports, and risk assessments.

A degree qualification in relevant discipline including engineering, or similar
- Extensive experience in design/project management.
- Experience in managing contracts, variations, extension of time, quality, construction, and commissioning of process plants.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines in a multi-functional team.
- Results-oriented, with a focus on cost optimisation and timely delivery.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage complex, conflicting priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proactive with an ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Word processing software (intermediate); spreadsheet and database applications (intermediate); capacity to learn new software (general), AutoCAD and project-specific 2D/3D drafting packages (general), project schedule programs.
