The mission of The Salvation Army Employment Plus network is to change lives and communities through the power of employment. The ‘EPlus Local’ initiative supports Salvation Army’s Refugee and Asylum Seekers Program by assisting newly arrived migrants to become ‘job ready’ and to gain employment Working with the EPlus Employer Liaison team, EPlus Job Mentors will work closely with refugees to find employment opportunities by identifying their valuable skills and professional experience to assess suitability and ensure a good match with employers. This rewarding role calls on those who are passionate about recruitment and community development, as well as working with refugees. It will bring opportunity to connect with employers in your local community and educate them on the excellent opportunity that exists when engaging a skilled migrant worker. It will also allow you to engage with the wider community of Salvation Army’s networks.
We have on offer 2 ongoing volunteer roles for someone with a keen interest in Recruitment or Community Services, looking for practical training in their professional development, exploring a career change or someone who has extensive relevant experience and has a passion and time to give back to the community
Note: This role will be based in one or more of the following Salvation Army sites: Logan Central. The distribution of sites between successful applicants will be facilitated by the National Social Impact Manager. Contacting participants to make appointments to assist with their resumes utilising templates and guidelines, booking for group sessions and for one-on-one mentoring appointments, rebooking missed appointments
- Pre-screening, coaching, and mentoring participants with tailored options for employment, education, and training to best prepare for their journey to employment taking into consideration any barriers
- Reporting to Program Coordinator(s) on the numbers of resumes completed and which participants need follow up for reverse marketing
- Updating databases to track support provided to applicants and record how they are tracking at each appointment
- Escalating any ongoing issues to Corps Officers / Program Managers
Qualifications and skills (desired/required)
- Familiarity with the refugee community is highly desirable (but not essential)
- Bilingual language skills highly desired (but not essential) in particularly Dari/Farsi/Hazaragi/Urdu/Arabic speaking
- Experience administration or recruitment is highly desired
- Required to have a general understanding and/or appreciation of recruitment trends and assisting people to find work
- Experience in customer service and/or administration is desired, with strong attention to detail
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and in using excel spreadsheets
