Position Summary
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will produce drawings and designs as per client standards and design guidelines in coordination with Lead Project Engineer. You will be responsible for working with project team members including lead project engineers and drafters to complete the project.
In This Role, You Will
- Carry out assigned project and electrical engineering work as delegated in support of technical and commercial standards.
- Design electrical schematics and general assembly layouts of control systems.
- Understand electrical wiring and panel building based on ELV and LV designs.
- Read and interpret site audit photos, technical drawings, schematics, termination wiring and scope of works to produce detailed design drawings in accordance with client standards.
- Drafting of design drawings using AutoCAD package and / or delegation of design requirements to a Drafter.
- Development of power calculations to determine loads and battery sizes.
- Liaise with manufacturers if required for development of equipment schedules for sites.
- Development of detailed engineering reports for electrical installation changes required on site.
- Developing drawing design standards for consistency and accuracy.
- Responsible for the on-time delivery of the allocated work schedules.
- Ensure the safety of designs through application of specialist expertise, standards, reviews, risk assessments and risk management.
- Work within a team to deliver results within allocated time, budget, and quality constraints.
- Familiarisation with client design standards and ability to translate requirements into a workable design solution.
- Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical)
- Ideally 3 to 5+ years' industry experience either of these industries e.g. Utilities, Water, Manufacturing, Transport, Defence Building Services, LV Power Reticulation.
- Understanding and implementation of relevant Standards and Codes (AS/NZS 3000, etc.)
- Strong experience with AutoCAD / Electrical Design.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Understanding of PLC, RTU’s, communication networks and instrumentation to select appropriate equipment for the design.
- Capacity to effectively handling competing priorities, prioritising work and meet tight deadlines.
- Track record of work effectively individually and in a team environment.
- Networking knowledge (ethernet, DSL, Radio links, comms etc.)
- Proficient technical English writing capability.
- Strong communication skills.
- Appropriate Engineering qualifications and minimum of 3 years proven experience.
- Australian drivers licence.
- Must be an Australian Citizen.
