Your Position at St John of God Bendigo Hospital

You will be responsible and effective team member, assisting in the overall clinical management of the ward and responsible for the provision of comprehensive patient care and supervision of care given by junior staff.

This position is available with our Surgical Ward, our services include colorectal procedures such as endoscopy and colonoscopy, cataract extraction as well as some cardiac and vascular procedures can be completed as day surgery. Other day surgery examples include minor orthopaedic surgery, urological procedures and general surgery such as hernia repair.

The successful candidate(s) will have:

  • In the absence of the Nursing Unit Manager, the ANUM assumes responsibilities for the utilisation of personnel and management of unit in collaboration with After Hours Manager.
  • Assists and facilitates the effective communication of the Unit.
  • Assists the Nursing Unit Manager in collection of audits, statistics, staff performance management and productivity analysis data.
  • Monitors staff levels against budget/target levels related to number of bed days, occupancy and patient acuity. Adjusts staffing levels in consultation with the Unit Manager and/or After Hours Manager according to changes in levels.
  • Provides direct total patient care to patients to achieve identified outcomes in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of/and functions in accordance with legislation and common law affecting nursing practice and acknowledges accountability/responsibility for own actions.

You will have a registration with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife and demonstrate ability to develop and build effective nursing, medical and

interdisciplinary relationships and teams.

To succeed you will have knowledge and skills of the principles of infection management and commitment to on-going education and self-directed learning.

  • Salary $107,721 to $111,330 (pro rata if part time) plus 12% superannuation
