Position Purpose
As the Practice Director reporting directly to the Regional Director (NSW/VIC), you will play a pivotal role in ADG Engineers' Melbourne office. You will be responsible for overseeing the financial performance, people and culture, risk and contract management, daily operations, and strategic direction of the Practice. Your leadership will be instrumental in developing the team, expanding the project pipeline, and fostering proactive customer relationships and business development initiatives.
Responsibilities
As the Practice Director, your role encompasses several key result areas:
- Taking the lead in achieving financial targets, driving profitable growth, and developing annual business plans aligned with company goals for the practice.
- Providing leadership, mentoring, and support of direct reports, enhancing employee engagement, and recruiting key talent.
- Ensuring effective communication, maintaining company values, and sustaining an organizational culture focused on innovation and collaboration.
- Preparing and delivering the practice business plan, managing debtors, and reviewing financial reports to achieve KPIs.
- Developing client relationships, identifying potential new clients, and maintaining strong professional networks.
- Maintaining knowledge of industry technical requirements, professional development, and innovative solutions.
- Ensuring work is completed in accordance with company systems and processes.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related field with CPEng status
- Member of Engineers Australia
- Proven track record in business development, with experience in growing engineering divisions or practices in Victoria.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Extensive experience in delivering engineering projects across a variety of sectors.
- Strong technical expertise and up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and best practices.
- A background in Structural Engineering or Construction Services (temporary works) is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships effectively.
- Strong influencing, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Well-developed commercial and business acumen with a good understanding of design and commercial risk and contract management.
