About the Role
As a Store Manager at WHSmith, you will be responsible for:
- Championing a customer-first culture, ensuring our Service Guarantee is consistently demonstrated and embedded across the team.
- Being a visible and active presence on the shop floor, regularly engaging with your teams and customers to drive performance and team morale.
- Proactively identifying the team's needs to build a high-performing workforce that delivers high standards.
- Creating and maintaining a high standard in safety, food safety compliance, aligned with legal requirements.
- Efficient rosters that align with business demands and compliance requirements.
- Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Leading the execution of marketing initiatives and promotional campaigns, driving engagement and sales.
- Overseeing stock orders, replenishment and high visual merchandising standards in line with brand standards and planograms.
Please note, the leadership team operates on a rotating roster, and the successful candidate will be required to commit to this flexible schedule as part of their role that includes early starts, late nights and weekend working.
About You
The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader, bringing strong retail management experience and exceptional interpersonal skills. They will play a key role in providing support and guidance across the terminal, fostering a positive and high-performing team environment.
The successful candidate will also possess:
- A minimum of 5 years' management experience in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities, with a passion for developing others.
- Proven experience in managing the stock lifecycle.
- A good understanding of rostering requirements and compliance standards.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- A track record of delivering results, achieving KPIs, and driving business performance.
- A determined and goal-oriented mindset, with a strong sense of accountability.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and public holidays as required.
