The Opportunity

We're seeking a capable Full Stack Developer who’s passionate about software engineering and digital product development. As well as aptitude and enthusiasm for the craft of software engineering for the modern web, you’ll enjoy working closely with your team and taking collective ownership of the entire life cycle of digital product development: from refining requirements and participating in solution design; meticulously translating designs into beautiful UIs; writing automated tests, peer reviewing your team’s work for quality and security; release management; and maintaining, improving and extending existing systems to meet evolving needs.

You'll join a team of skilled developers who are fluent in React, Next.js, and today's modern front-end technologies. Together you’ll typically build, release and support multiple digital products each year for several different clients — each with both familiar and novel technologies and challenges. Along the way you’ll receive regular guidance, coaching and feedback from your team’s Engineering Manager (and your peers) to support your ongoing learning and development.

About the Role

As a Developer at Inlight, you'll write and (peer review) plenty of high quality, well-tested and thoughtfully structured code. You'll also take ownership of everything around the code which is necessary to build great products, including: requirements analysis; design collaboration; backlog refinement; prototyping / proof of concept; solution architecture; technical design; automated testing; manual QA and release management; troubleshooting and support in production.

We're looking for people who prefer this high-responsibility model, rather than wanting to be told exactly what code to write.

We also hold our developers to very high technical standards: it’s not enough that you can knock out some React components. You’ll need strong engineering fundamentals, and enough breadth and depth of understanding that you can dive into the frameworks you’re using, make a convincing case for your technical decisions, pick up a new language, or harness generative AI without slipping on quality or security standards. You’ll also take ownership, as a team, of the products you build, so a strong product mindset and sense of collective ownership will serve you well.

What We're Looking For

• 3-5 years of professional programming / web development experience
• Very strong fluency with modern CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML and React
• Moderate fluency with at least one other programming language
• Breadth of understanding of topics relevant to web development and software engineering
• Strong Experience with component-based architectures (React.js; Next.js or comparable frameworks)
• Demonstrated ability to translate designs into thoughtfully crafted interfaces with precision and care
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent knowledge (industry experience + self study) in software development

Nice to Haves

• Experience with React Native, mobile development
• Fluency with TailwindCSS and design systems
• Strong practical understanding of front end build pipelines
• Professional experience or certification in AWS or other infrastructure / devops
• Strong understanding of the internals of at least one framework
• Competency in other languages, frameworks
• Experience mentoring other developers
• Potential to grow into a front end practice lead (technical leadership role)

• Back-end: typically Node.js + various (tRPC, REST, GraphQL, SQL, Redis, DynamoDB)
• Infrastructure: Vercel, AWS, serverless architectures
