Orange Door is a visible, welcoming access point for individuals and families in need. It brings together workers from specialist family violence services, child and family services, Aboriginal services, and men’s services — creating a collaborative hub of care and intervention.
About The Role
At The Salvation Army, we believe every person deserves to live free from fear and violence. As a Specialist Family Violence Practitioner at Orange Door, you’ll be at the frontline of change — supporting women, children, families, and those who use violence toward a safer and more hopeful future.

Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a fixed-term full-time position, contracted until June 2026, based in Hastings, VIC.
Compensation is in accordance with SCHADS Award Level 6.

You will successfully
- Provide expert screening, triage, risk assessment, and crisis response
- Deliver thoughtful and accountable interventions with a clear focus on perpetrator accountability
- Offer trauma-informed care to women, children, and families navigating complex circumstances
- Work closely with Orange Door Practice Leaders and The Salvation Army’s Family Violence Services to ensure integrated, high-quality support
You are a compassionate and resilient professional who brings:
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
- An understanding of the complex dynamics of family violence and trauma
- A deep respect for diverse identities, experiences, and cultural backgrounds
- A strong sense of ethics, boundaries, and accountability
- The ability to work calmly under pressure, with the emotional strength to support those experiencing distress or crisis
- A current Victorian Driver’s Licence
- An Employee Working with Children's Check
