About the opportunity

At Mercy Health, each moment, no matter how small, truly matters - and as a Registered Nurse In-charge, you'll help create cherished moments and better health outcomes for residents each day.

  • Oversee clinical operations within the aged care facility.
  • Supervise and support nursing and care staff to ensure high-quality care.
  • Conduct assessments and develop individualized care plans for residents.
  • Administer medications and monitor for side effects or changes in condition.
  • Coordinate with doctors, allied health professionals, and families.
  • Ensure compliance with aged care standards and regulations.
  • Manage documentation, including progress notes and incident reports.
  • Respond to emergencies and implement appropriate interventions.
  • Delegate tasks effectively to nursing and support staff.
  • Mentor and train junior nurses and care workers.
  • Lead shift handovers and team meetings.
  • Monitor staff performance and provide feedback.
  • Handle conflict resolution and promote teamwork.
  • This role is for an RN In-charge on night duty


What you'll bring

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Strong clinical knowledge in geriatric care.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Registered Nurse in aged care
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach.


You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • Recognised tertiary qualification and current full Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated record of achievement and experience working in Residential Aged Care.
  • Valid police check.
