About the role
Keep our roads moving and communities connected. We're on the lookout for a sharp thinking, solutions driven Maintenance Manager to lead the safe and efficient delivery of maintenance services across our Victorian network. This is a hands on leadership role focused on contract and stakeholder management, safety performance, and continuous improvement. You'll play a pivotal part in ensuring our road assets are well maintained, risks are minimised, and the needs of millions of road users are met day and night.
Day-to-day, you will:
- Lead and coach a high-performing team, setting clear priorities, development goals and operating rhythms
- Oversee the safe, timely, and cost-effective execution of the annual maintenance program
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to manage asset performance and risk
- Champion HSE leadership, reviewing SWMS and incident reports, and driving a strong safety culture
- Work closely with commercial partners to optimise service delivery, budgets and contract outcomes
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement across maintenance practices and systems
- Support response to network incidents and maintenance-related emergencies-including after-hours needs
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
- A degree in Engineering, Business, or Project Management-or at least 10 years' equivalent experience in roads/utilities infrastructure
- At least 5 years' experience in contract management within complex maintenance environments
- Solid understanding of HSE practices, asset risk management and stakeholder engagement
- Proven people leadership and the ability to influence outcomes and build cross-functional relationships
- Strong commercial acumen and experience managing budgets
- Experience in large civil, mechanical, or electrical infrastructure projects is highly regarded
If you meet some of these requirements, but not all, we encourage you to submit your application.
With a career at Transurban, you'll enjoy a range of benefits, including:
- Flexible working options, including the ability to purchase up to six weeks of additional leave each year
- 16 weeks paid parental leave (regardless of gender or carer status), plus superannuation on unpaid leave
- Career growth and leadership development opportunities
- Wellbeing support-from Headspace to EAP and wellness facilities
- Share offers and discounted insurance benefits
- Team social events, volunteer days, and community give-back initiatives
We offer a range of flexible working and leave options, so you can balance your work and life commitments and interests. Have a conversation with us about how this could work for you.
We embrace diversity with a foundation of safety, wellbeing and inclusion; where everyone belongs. We treat everyone with fairness, consideration and respect, regardless of gender, gender identity, marital or family status, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, religious beliefs, cultural or socio-economic background, perspective, and experience - whether they work for us or not. We want to ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe to express ideas, questions and concerns.
