Your team

Financial Markets Group is responsible for implementing the Reserve Bank's operations in domestic and foreign exchange markets, monitoring and analysing developments in financial markets and co-ordinating the Reserve Bank's relationship with international institutions. Domestic Markets Department is responsible for the Reserve Bank's operations in the domestic money and bond markets. The Department also analyses developments in domestic financial markets, including the cost and availability of finance through financial intermediaries and capital markets, and provides regular advice to the Governors and the Board on these issues

The Role

Are you a highly skilled Data Analyst, with an ability to think critically to design/develop and support data technology solutions? Do you have a keen interest in maturing data management practises? This opportunity will enable you to directly support analysis and research relevant to Financial Markets Group's policies, core functions and reporting obligations.

Being part of the hard-working team of data analysts, you will work closely with and support data analysts in maturing Financial Markets Group's data assets throughout their life cycle. This includes identifying opportunities, automating business processes and improving analytical capabilities to provide quality data outcomes. You will be involved with the design, development and support of data solutions to support the Financial Markets Group's policy analysis and research.

Your background

  • Previous experience designing and developing code/scripts to leverage structured data from various sources using statistical tools (e.g., R, Git).
  • In-depth knowledge of the R programming language and associated packages (e.g., the Tidyverse). Experience with database technologies (e.g., SQL) is highly desirable.
  • Ability to evaluate, automate, and enhance business processes using adaptable and maintainable coding practices.
  • Strong understanding of data governance and management standards, processes, and tools.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external partners in support of data management functions.
  • Experience managing data assets across their lifecycle, ensuring compliance with data management policies, guidelines, and best practices.
  • A future-focused mindset, with the ability to anticipate emerging data needs, design scalable solutions, and contribute to long-term data strategy and innovation.
