The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is an independent statutory authority established by the Australian Government to maintain an impartial and independent electoral system for eligible voters through active electoral roll management, efficient delivery of polling services, and targeted education and public awareness programs.

The Team
Based in our Tasmania State Office in Hobart, you will join a high-performing team, whose work is integral to the agency’s ability to deliver federal elections and other electoral events.
The Tasmania State Office works closely with our Tasmanian divisional teams and our National counterparts, and is responsible for planning, delivery, and evaluation of a range of projects that support state-wide event delivery, collaborating with State and national teams to assure governance and corporate deliverables for the State, and providing critical support to our divisional network, which is the operational arm of the AEC in Tasmania.
The Opportunity
This role will contribute to the development and delivery of community and broader stakeholder engagement strategies. For example, you will play a key role in raising awareness of and promoting AEC activities that aim to increase electoral participation among disadvantaged groups and building partnerships that contribute to the successful delivery of a world-class electoral service.
In this role you will liaise with internal and external stakeholders on policy, project and operational issues. You will apply highly developed communication skills to build and sustain positive relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and members of the public.
In addition, you will be responsible for a range of election delivery projects, including the management of planning, resourcing and risk to ensure project goals are achieved in accordance with policy and procedure.
The Project Officer is expected to model AEC values and demonstrate a commitment to both their own ongoing learning and development and helping to build the capability of more junior staff.
At election time, the role may also be required to take on new responsibilities at short notice, as agency priorities necessitate and as directed by management.

- Any person who is, and seen to be active in political affairs, and intends to publicly carry on this activity, may compromise the strict neutrality of the AEC and cannot be considered.
