Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for a Technical Director – Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls to join our Resources and Materials Engineering group.
Resource and Materials Engineering WA is a leading multi-disciplinary Resource Engineering group in Perth, known for its dynamic projects in the Mining and Energy sectors, made possible by GHD's diversity and strategic Tier 1 client relationships. This represents an opportunity to engage in projects spanning Process and NPI across a wide range of commodities like iron ore, gold, lithium, and bauxite, as well as Future Energy and Renewables endeavors like wind, solar, hydrogen, and power transmission.
As a key member of the leadership team within the Resources and Materials business group, you'll work directly with the E&IC Team Lead to drive the success of a high-performing team. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the day-to-day operations, ensuring that key objectives are consistently met, and building team capability across technical delivery, project execution, and client outcomes. This is your opportunity to lead with purpose, elevate project quality, and deliver exceptional results for our clients.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Prepare and submit proposals in response to client requests.
- Undertake electrical design, documentation, and construction support work on engineering projects through all project phases.
- Be responsible for providing and leading work undertaken by more junior electrical resources in the team.
- Assist the Team Lead – Electrical, Instrumentation and Control in promotion of GHD’s strategy, business ethics and values to the staff within the Service Groups.
- Bachelor of Engineering – Electrical or equivalent.
- Resource sector experience with a focus on design and consultancy in a multidisciplinary environment.
- 10+ years’ heavy industry electrical engineering experience in practical and technical knowledge of conceptual, FEED, detailed design, system development, testing and commissioning, and maintenance and operation of electrical and control systems.
- Experience with power systems software is favourable.
- Experience in mentoring junior engineers.
- Ability to work with all levels of people.
- Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written, open communication.
- Focus on client service, good people relationship and networking skills.
