About the Role: Software Developer
We’re looking for a passionate and capable Software Developer to join our focused, agile team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be instrumental in building and maintaining the tools that power modern online payments.
What success looks like
Payments aren’t simple, but we try to make it seem that way.
A Software Developer working at Fat Zebra can expect to get up to speed in about 2-3 months’ time. During that time (and after!) we will provide ongoing training and mentorship for your role, accelerating your growth as a developer.
You will be confidently shipping new features on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, or contributing to solving merchant issues, or interacting with our 3rd party providers to investigate those same issues.

Key Responsibilities
As a Software Developer at Fat Zebra, you will:
- Develop and maintain reporting dashboards and our embedded payment form application used by merchants across various frontends
- Manage and evolve our internal Zeal Design System, ensuring consistent and accessible UI/UX across products
- Maintain our JavaScript and React SDK, which enables seamless integration of our payment solutions
- Deliver new features and enhancements, contributing to our product roadmap in collaboration with other teams
- Develop, test, and support applications across web and mobile platforms
- Fix bugs and handle business-as-usual tasks through collaboration and pair programming
- Improve documentation and demo content for our payment form tools
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and tools in the tech and payments industry
- Contribute to occasional ad-hoc projects as needed
- Strong technical foundation, a collaborative mindset
- Passion for building high-quality software
- Ideally, you have experience in Ruby on Rails, or front-end technologies like TypeScript and React
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages: ideally either JavaScript or Ruby.
- Solid understanding of front-end technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript
- Experience working with PostgreSQL, or another SQL database
- Strong knowledge of software testing and debugging best practices
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team
