Based in Adelaide, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Specialist to join our team at Optus. This role primarily focuses on the Integration, Optimisation, and Performance Management of the Optus 4G/5G Mobile Radio Access Network. The successful candidate will lead technical projects, introduce new features, explore new technologies, and provide a high level of technical support within the team.

The day to day

  • Manage state 4G/5G mobile network performance ensuring radio KPIs are met.
  • Participate in special event capacity planning, including performance monitoring and field testing.
  • Monitor network performance, user experience, and worst-performing cells to identify and resolve issues.
  • Conduct feature and parameter trials.
  • Provide support for network rollout programs by optimising new sites and identify requirements for new base station infrastructure or network re-arrangements.
  • Consult with other groups internal and external to ensure optimal technical solutions are achieved on time.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, service providers, and customers.
  • Lead technical projects and manage large-scale network optimisation initiatives.
  • Provide high-level technical support within the team.
  • Provide input into business presentations and support activities for various teams.
  • Work autonomously with little or no guidance, taking personal accountability and ownership for problem identification and resolution.
  • Change Management to review network changes and mitigate impact.

Why you are our next Technical Specialist - 4G/5G Mobile Radio Access Network

  • Qualifications in Telecommunications Engineering or related field.
  • Current Australian Driver’s license.
  • Radio Access Network (RAN) experience in Mobile Telecommunications (encompassing LTE, 5G, FWA, IoT).
  • Extensive understanding of network performance metrics, counters and KPIs.
  • Solid experience with NSN and Huawei RAN equipment, features, and algorithms.
  • Proficiency with Drive Testing Tools, Post Processing Software, RF Planning Tools, and OSS Platforms.
  • Experience in Inbuilding system design and solutions.
  • Ability to complete projects/high-level reviews within project timeframes.
  • Knowledge of Australian Telecommunications Regulatory Authorities and standard compliance.
  • Desired experience with Power BI, Tableau, and automation tools.
