The Role

Due to growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a lawyer to join our Government & Commercial Law team in Canberra to work with Natalie Butler and her team on a range of information law engagements and digital transformation projects.

The role will involve supporting and advising Government clients to navigate the intersection between privacy law, confidentiality/secrecy provisions and decisions made under legislation.

Who We Are Looking For

The successful candidate will have between 2-5 years’ experience in information law with particular expertise in federal privacy law and related regulatory frameworks and an excellent working knowledge of archives, FOI and statutory secrecy provisions. You will be familiar with privacy threshold assessments privacy impact assessments and similar data privacy risk and compliance reviews (whether as an instructing lawyer or privacy practitioner)), managing privacy complaints/incidents and the growing body of guidance material about the responsible and ethical use of data Candidates must be able to work independently and as part of a highly collaborative team with the ability to build and maintain effective client and peer relationships.
