As our Practice Director - Cloud Platform & Managed Services, you’ll drive growth, be sales and partner focused, and be able to operate at pace and within a dynamic environment. We’ll count on you to lead and expand our thriving Cloud Infrastructure and Managed Services business. This is a critical leadership role responsible for driving sales, presales, and delivery across our Australian, New Zealand and Singaporean client base, encompassing commercial, state and federal government clients.

Leadership: The leadership for this role is our Vice President - Services APAC, Phil Rickson. Phil is based in Sydney and leads all Insight’s Services functions across APAC.


As our Practice Director - Cloud Platform & Managed Services you’ll be responsible for:


Strategic Leadership & Growth:

  • Develop and execute strategies to drive significant revenue and profit growth across all business units.
  • Identify new market opportunities and expand our service offerings to meet evolving client needs.
  • Lead the development and implementation of our go-to-market strategies for Cloud Infrastructure, Networking, Security, Modern Workplace, Software Asset Management, and Managed Services.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and client-centricity within the team.


Sales & Presales:

  • Drive sales efforts, working closely with the sales team to identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their strategic objectives and aligning our services accordingly.
  • Grow an expert pre-sales team which includes solution design, proposal development, and client presentations.
  • Represent the company at industry events and conferences, enhancing our market presence and reputation.


Delivery & Operational Excellence:

  • Oversee the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects, ensuring client satisfaction, project profitability, and adherence to timelines.
  • Optimise delivery methodologies and processes to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Manage resource allocation, ensuring the right talent is deployed to the right projects.
  • Implement robust governance frameworks for all engagements, mitigating risks and ensuring compliance.


Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of consultants and leaders, fostering their technical and professional growth.
  • Drive recruitment efforts to attract top talent and scale the team in line with business growth.
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and establish clear career paths for team members.
  • Promote a collaborative and supportive team environment.


Business Unit Management:

  • Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure Services: Provide strategic direction for our core services including Platform Engineering, DevOps, Cloud Migrations, Identity, and Cloud Security. Stay abreast of the latest Microsoft technologies and trends.
  • Microsoft Modern Workplace Practice: Oversee the growth and development of our Modern Workplace offerings.
  • Cloud Optimization & Governance (O&G): Drive the expansion of our O&G practice, including Software Asset Management, Cloud FinOps and Cloud Governance Solutions.
  • APAC Managed Services: Manage and grow our small but expanding Infrastructure Managed Services business.

We’re looking for a Practice Director with:

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in IT consulting, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or director-level role
  • Proven experience in managing and growing a professional services team
  • Deep understanding and hands-on experience with Microsoft technologies, particularly in cloud infrastructure (Azure), identity, security, and modern workplace solutions.
  • Demonstrable track record of achieving practice sales targets, driving revenue growth, and improving profitability.
  • Proven experience leading and growing offshore teams, preferably with experience working with teams in India and the Philippines.
  • Exceptional client relationship management and negotiation skills.
  • Solid understanding of service delivery methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience with financial management, budgeting, and forecasting for a business unit.
