About the role:


We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Design Engineer Overhead to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for the provision of engineering expertise, design, estimating and the design management of distribution projects with our network services.


Furthermore, this position is responsible for minor survey works and asset recording and for the implementation of appropriate policies and procedures with regards to distribution and sub-transmission assets.


As part of a broader team, this role is responsible for the delivery of timely, cost effective and quality design related services through innovation, good design practice and a professional attitude towards delivering excellent customer service.


What you’ll deliver:


  • Provide effective engineering design and advice in relation to the design of overhead lines, underground lines, and Distribution substations to agreed standards, and in accordance with the relevant technical manuals, OH&S Act, ‘Safety in Design’ guidelines and customer requirements
  • Assist with the development of design standards & policy in accordance with organisational, regulatory, and statutory requirements
  • Prepare detailed construction plans for Distribution Design projects and maintain system records in accordance with appropriate standards and customer requirements
  • Provide effective design management to deliver projects of large complexity within agreed time frames, quality and cost constraints
  • Actively support and implement new or modified processes and systems
  • Provide technical expertise and mentoring to design personnel in elements of Design and Design management


To succeed in the role you’ll have:


  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical)
  • Eligible and working towards National Engineering Registration (NER) or already registered
  • Effective communication skills
  • Detailed knowledge and experience in Distribution Design principles and procedures.
  • Knowledge of GIS, AutoCAD design (or equivalent), electrical networks, operation, and construction plan
  • High level experience in customer and stakeholder negotiation
  • Proven ability of developing and applying new technology/innovations
  • Proven ability to apply project Design Management principles
  • Understanding of Safety in Design practices
