About Us


Protecnium is an international consulting firm specializing in engineering and technical services. We are seeking an experienced Planner to join a major infrastructure project in Melbourne, Australia.


Location: Melbourne, Australia (on-site)


Duration: 24+ months


Work Schedule: Monday to Friday- 40 hours weekly


Role Summary


Reporting directly to the Planning Manager, the Planner will be responsible for managing the planning and scheduling activities, making sure all project deadlines, deliverables, and performance indicators are met. The position covers execution planning, schedule updates, risk assessment, progress tracking, and detailed reporting.


Key Responsibilities


  • Create and maintain schedules for construction, procurement, and deliverables aligned with the Work Breakdown Structure and contractual obligations.
  • Develop construction programs that incorporate methodology, highlight key milestones, and address project constraints.
  • Ensure adherence to planning procedures and controls as specified in the Construction
  • Management System and contractual agreements.
  • Assist in identifying and addressing project risks and opportunities.
  • Keep scheduling data current in Primavera P6, including Earned Value (EV) metrics, as well as cost and revenue cash flows.
  • Facilitate monthly program reviews with project delivery teams and produce in-depth schedule reports.
  • Provide project managers with insights on reports, project progress, and recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Prepare planning documents required for meetings and project reviews.
  • Build strong working relationships and maintain clear communication across project teams.


Requirements


  • A minimum of 4 years of experience as a Planner in tunnel/rail/ complex, large-scale infrastructure construction projects.
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, ideally in Civil Engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in standard planning tools such as Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject, and Microsoft Project.
  • Practical experience with project planning, logic diagrams, critical path analysis, and detailed scheduling.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, for conveying technical information.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office and project control software.
