The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Senior Financial Accountant (Regulatory Reporting) for a 12 month max term opportunity to join our Corporate Services team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, External Reporting, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the transparency and quality of financial data reported to APRA and ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations. This position is a 12-month max term opportunity, perfect for someone looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and coordinate quarterly and annual APRA returns.
- Assist in the coordination of deliverables with external bodies such as the Fund's custodian, auditors, and actuaries.
- Prepare key Fund data, including ABI/VBI calculations and reserve balances.
- Support the development and monitoring of APRA regulatory reporting frameworks.
- Implement Phase II APRA SDT reporting policies, processes, and procedures.
- Execute process improvements to enhance automation, transparency, and auditability.
- Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures.
- Assist with month-end close processes, including journal preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, and project accounting.
About You:
- CA or CPA qualification is essential.
- Experience in finance, preferably with a background in a big 4 professional services firm.
- Knowledge of superannuation, investment accounting, or financial services industry.
- Experience in APRA reporting.
- Strong accounting skills and knowledge of accounting standards.
- Proficiency in Excel and strong spreadsheeting skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to see the big picture.
- Excellent prioritization and problem-solving skills.
- Strong analytical and interpretive skills regarding regulatory requirements.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to influence and communicate at all levels.
- A strong team player.
