About The Team

When you join the Infrastructure Projects team, you’ll join a group of professionals delivering Australia’s future rail network. To help grow rail transport in Australia, the team is focused on ensuring the delivery of critical construction projects across the country, including implementation of our $1 billion Network Investment Program that we’ve developed with the Australian Government. Whether it’s designing, building or maintaining crucial rail infrastructure, the team plays a pivotal role in our ongoing efforts to improve network resilience and keep the future of freight on track.

About The Opportunity

As a Project Manager reporting to the Manager Projects (VIC/SA/WA), you will provide essential project management support across the full project lifecycle while working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the successful and safe delivery of works.

You will be the Project Manager responsible for the upgrade of rail signalling assets to provide Network resilience and associated performance improvements as part of ARTC’s Network Investment Program. In this role, you will be responsible for managing discrete work packages, engaging internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring ARTC’s project objectives around safety, quality, and performance are achieved.

Key Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Support project delivery across feasibility, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover phases. Lead and coordinate the delivery of specific work packages by engaging and managing consultants, contractors, and internal service areas.
  • Ensure a strong link between on-site delivery and overarching ARTC objectives, focusing on safety, quality, and performance.
  • Provide regular reporting on costs, schedule, and safety performance for assigned project components.
  • Manage the process requirements to successfully deliver rail signalling upgrades in a brownfield operating environment.
  • Manage interfaces with ARTC operations, corridor managers, utilities, councils, community stakeholders, and state agencies.
  • Ensure full compliance with ARTC’s Safety and Environmental Policies and relevant legislative obligations.

What do we want from you?

Holding either Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or equivalent qualification) you should possess experience in delivering capital works on greenfield or brownfield rail signalling projects and have with a solid understanding of railway systems and standards, including track, civil, and signalling disciplines. You will be able to display a strong foundation in planning and delivering complex engineering projects while being able to demonstrate a well-organised, methodical approach to your work.

Additionally, You Should Possess The Following

  • 5+ years’ experience in engineering maintenance, construction, or project management in rail or linear infrastructure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and critical path programming tools.
  • Highly organised with excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Class C licence, White Card, RIW Card
