Racing Victoria (RV) is the governing body of thoroughbred horse racing in Victoria, committed to promoting the sport, upholding integrity, and delivering exceptional service to our stakeholders.
We are currently seeking a qualified and motivated Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This leadership role plays a vital part in ensuring the financial sustainability of the racing industry through accurate reporting, insightful analysis, and effective stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation and delivery of monthly RVG management accounts and Board-level financial reports.
- Manage the month-end close process, including timely reconciliations of general ledger balance sheet accounts.
- Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts and coordinate external audit requirements.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements (BAS, FBT, Payroll Tax).
- Prepare cash flow projections, oversee investment management, and manage treasury requirements.
- Provide insightful financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting and strategic modelling to support decision-making across the business.
- Support operational efficiency by analysing expenditure and developing ROI frameworks and business cases.
- Lead the delivery of financial services to associated entities such as VicRacing and the Australian Racing Museum.
- Manage the prizemoney distribution function and ensure compliant, timely payments to stakeholders.
- Identify and implement continuous improvements across financial systems and processes.
- Provide strong leadership and development to a small team, fostering a culture of performance, learning, and collaboration.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- A formal accounting qualification and CPA/CA certification (or working towards).
- Extensive experience in a similar financial accounting or senior finance role.
- Proficiency with ERP accounting systems (NetSuite experience is highly regarded).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and sound knowledge of financial modelling.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- An ability to manage multiple priorities while leading a high-performing team.
- A commitment to continuous improvement and customer service.
