The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Configuration Manager to support one of our key Defence clients as part of our Managed Service Provider (MSP) team based in Melbourne. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing configuration management processes, tools, and governance to ensure the integrity and traceability of systems throughout the project lifecycle.

You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams to maintain consistency of performance, functionality, and design. This position requires a strong understanding of Defence standards and practices, particularly within complex, highly regulated environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain configuration management plans, policies, and procedures in accordance with Defence and MSP frameworks.
  • Establish and manage configuration control boards (CCBs) and change control processes.
  • Maintain accurate configuration records, baselines, and product structures across hardware, software, and documentation.
  • Ensure traceability and consistency of system configurations throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with engineering, project, and logistics teams to ensure compliance with configuration management requirements.
  • Support audits, reviews, and verification activities related to configuration and data integrity.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of configuration management practices and tools

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

  • Current NV1 security clearance (mandatory).
  • Proven experience as a Configuration Manager or in a configuration control role within the Defence sector.
  • Strong knowledge of ASDEFCON, ISO 10007, and other Defence configuration management standards.
  • Familiarity with tools such as DOORS, Teamcenter, JIRA, or other CMIS/PLM platforms.
  • Experience working within CASG, Defence Primes, or Defence-related programs.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and documentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently within a complex and multidisciplinary environment

Desirable Qualifications and Attributes

  • Formal training or certification in configuration or data management (e.g. CMII, ITIL, or equivalent).
  • Background in Systems Engineering, Logistics, or ICT disciplines.
  • Familiarity with Defence capability lifecycle and acquisition frameworks.
