About The Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Finance Officer to join our team in Canberra. As a Finance Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting our financial management activities. Your responsibilities will include managing financial records, assisting with financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage accurate financial records, including accounts payable and receivables, and perform monthly and annual financial reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reporting, including project-based financial reporting, and monthly and annual company reporting to the Board.
- Process salaries, superannuation, allowances, and leave using Xero accounting software. Provide timely and accurate administrative support for financial management.
- Assist with statutory reporting, including Business Activity Statements (BAS), Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), and payroll tax reporting.
- Undertake occasional travel within Australia.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Finance Officer.
- Proficiency in Xero Accounting software.
- Experience in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Strong Microsoft Office 365 skills, particularly Excel.
- Tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Experience working in Defence Projects.
- Must be able to access information controlled under the US International Traffic of Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be able to obtain and maintain an Australian security clearance - NV1
