About The Role

At The Salvation Army Bendigo, we believe that every space tells a story — of care, respect, and belonging. From our food pantry to the café, from the worship centre to our community garden, every room, every surface, and every corner matters.

We’re looking for a dedicated and detail-focused Cleaner to help us keep these spaces clean, safe, and welcoming for every person who walks through our doors.

Whether it’s a warm space for someone experiencing homelessness, a tidy office for our support workers, or a spotless bathroom for a parent visiting our food pantry, your work will make a difference.

Reporting to the Corps Officer (Local Church Leader), this is a permanent part-time position, 18 hours per week, based in Bendigo, VIC.

Compensation is in accordance with Miscellaneous Award Level 2.

What You Will Do

Working across multiple community-focused spaces including the Café, Food Pantry, Shelter Shed, Worship Centre, and more, you will:

  • Ensure our buildings, vehicles, and surroundings are clean, hygienic, and well-presented
  • Follow a site-specific cleaning schedule, ensuring all areas are kept to a high standard
  • Maintain safe practices with chemicals and cleaning agents in line with MSDS requirements
  • Replenish supplies and support a hygienic environment for staff, volunteers, and clients alike

About You

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work and understands the importance of a clean, safe space — especially for those doing it tough. You’ll be a team player, able to work independently, and someone who cares about people as much as you care about cleanliness.

You will also bring

  • Experience and/or qualifications in commercial cleaning or hygiene services
  • Understanding of chemical safety and cleaning standards
  • Physical capacity to perform cleaning duties
  • Reliability, honesty, and a positive attitude
  • Commitment to ethical practice and alignment with our values
  • A current Employee Working with Children's Check
  • A current Driver's Licence
