We are working with a leading organisation who are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to support their payroll system implementation and staff training during a critical transformation phase. This short-term contract is ideal for someone with strong systems knowledge and a passion for sharing best practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of a new payroll system, ensuring smooth transition and data accuracy
  • Conduct end-to-end payroll processing (approx. 300 staff)
  • Maintain and update payroll records with accuracy and confidentiality
  • Train internal payroll and admin staff on new processes and systems
  • Interpret awards, EBAs, and contracts in relation to overtime, shift penalties, and allowances
  • Liaise with internal teams and respond to payroll-related queries
  • Manage superannuation, salary packaging, and other deductions
  • Process variations, back pays, and termination calculations
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to best-practice documentation

About You

  • Proven experience in end-to-end payroll within a medium to large organisation
  • Strong understanding of payroll compliance, systems, and reporting requirements
  • Previous involvement in payroll system implementations and staff training highly regarded
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
