About the Position
Associates perform a full range of professional support services to Commission Members. An Associateship at the Commission is a unique opportunity to learn firsthand about Australia’s workplace relations system and to work closely with Commission Members.
Successful candidates will be considered for the position of Associate to Vice President Asbury.
We also intend to create a merit pool to fill current and future vacancies that may arise in the team.
Duties
- As an Associate, and consistent with the Commission’s performance planning and management arrangements, flexibly undertake responsibilities associated with the administration/operation of a Member’s chambers
- Perform general administrative/executive assistant duties, including:
- Preparation and publication of official documents following Commission guidelines such as listed matters, orders and decisions
- Legal research in the field of labour law and workplace relations
- Diary coordination, preparation and maintenance of Commission files, proofreading and travel bookings.
- Effective management of Commission hearings (in-person and online)
- Use Commission information technology and communications facilities and systems, including for the management of files.
- Liaise with Commission Members and staff, workplace relations practitioners, legal practitioners and other parties (including unrepresented parties).
- Travel with a Member when required.
- When not allocated to a specific Member, or in any other circumstances, as directed, assist other Associates or Commission staff with work including providing relief associate support to other Members as needed.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Director, Member Support, Assistant Director, Member Support and/or the Member Support Coordinators across the Tribunal Support Branch.
Eligibility
The Fair Work Commission (the Commission) requires Australian citizenship as a condition of engagement.
To be eligible for employment with the Commission, the successful applicant must undergo and satisfy a National Police Check.
