Toll Aviation is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Base Engineer to lead our engineering team at the Sydney Fixed Wing Base. This is a critical leadership opportunity to ensure the safety, compliance, and performance of a fleet supporting essential aeromedical operations.
About The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Senior Base Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and airworthiness of our King Air B300 (Proline Fusion) and Pilatus PC-24 aircraft operating under our air ambulance contract. You will lead and coordinate a team of Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, ensuring all maintenance activities meet Toll Aviation’s standards and CASA regulatory requirements.
This is a permanent position based in Mascot.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the base engineering team, promoting a culture of safety, quality, and teamwork
- Ensure compliance with Toll Aviation’s Maintenance Organisation Manual and CASA requirements
- Manage and prioritise scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to ensure aircraft availability
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to maintenance personnel
- Liaise with operational teams to support mission readiness and minimal aircraft downtime
- Maintain accurate documentation and records aligned with regulatory standards
To be successful in this leadership role, you will have:
- Extensive aircraft maintenance experience with a CASR Part 66 B1 or B2 licence
- Type rating on B300 with Proline Fusion – essential
- Pilatus PC-24 and FJ44 engine licences – highly desirable
- Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Mechanical) or equivalent trade qualification
- Proven leadership and team management capabilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a commitment to safety
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Aviation Security Identity Card (ASIC)
- Lead a mission-critical engineering team in a high-impact role
