NORSTA Maritime is the Regional Maintenance Provider North-East (RMP-NE), known for its dynamic and collaborative approach in providing exceptional maritime sustainment to the Department of Defence. NORSTA delivers technical expertise and project management capabilities in fleet maintenance to support the operational efficiency of the Royal Australian Navy fleet.
NOTE: As a condition of this role, you must be an Australian citizen and be able to obtain (and hold) Baseline Defence security clearances. A National Police Check will be required.
About The Role
The Finance Officer ensures accurate and efficient recording of financial information in NORSTA’s accounting system to assist in the preparation of financial statements and associated reporting. This is a fixed-term role of 12 weeks (3 months). The role includes performing accounts payable tasks, raising purchase orders, making general ledger entries, recording payments and adjustments. In addition, this role also provides financial and administrative support to the Finance team and as required to other departments, which may include payroll processing. The role provides a pathway for advancement, including support for aspiring accounting professionals seeking professional accreditation.

As an experienced Finance Officer with demonstrated experience in Accounts Payable, you are meticulous and methodical with an aptitude for numbers, logic and mathematics. Analytical by nature, you place a high value in accuracy in your work and are a natural problem solver. As a team member, you value the input and feedback of your colleagues. - Accounts Payable functions.
- Reconciling the General Ledger.
- Processing payments and handling daily banking activities.
- Payroll processing.
- Identifying data irregularities to Financial Controller/Accountant.
- Reconciling supplier accounts and handling queries.
- Expense review and analysis.

Your Qualifications May Include
- Minimum Certificate 4 in Accounting/Bookkeeping
- Desirable: Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Business/Business Administration
- Extensive administration and support services background
- High proficiency in accounting systems. SAP-B1 is desirable but not mandatory.
- Excellent logic and numeracy skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good interpersonal skills.
