We’re looking for a

Configuration Management Specialist

to play a key role in maintaining, tracking, and evolving our ICT and telecommunications asset ecosystem. You’ll be the go-to person for ensuring our Configuration Management Databases (CMDBs) are accurate, reliable, and audit-ready—helping power enterprise delivery for our customers and internal stakeholders.

This role is all about data precision, proactive improvement, and collaboration. It sits at the heart of our ITIL-driven service management practices and supports major revenue-enabling functions across the business.

Your day in the life at Optus

Maintaining accurate configuration records and databases for ICT and Managed Telco assets

Review change requests, project proposals, reports, and monitoring tools to ensure adequate Configuration and Asset requirements are identified in line with the SACM policy and process.

Running lifecycle updates and bulk data loads into CMDBs

Supporting audits, including ISO 20000 compliance, through accurate documentation and process execution

Partnering with transition, and project teams to ensure configuration processes are embedded across project lifecycles

Designing database structures and project plans for new initiatives

Participating in service improvement initiatives and internal consultancy activities

Ensuring policy compliance, configuration integrity, and stakeholder engagement across the board

Your skills to pay the bills:
Demonstrable experience in ICT or Telco environments

Solid grasp of ICT solutions like Cloud, Data, and Hosted Services

Experience handling large datasets with advanced Excel and Access skills

Knowledge of ISO 20k and 9000, ITIL Foundation v3 or higher

Certificate IV or higher in Project Management (Prince2 a bonus)

Mature reporting and analytical skills, plus a good understanding of networking hardware and services

Detail-obsessed and take pride in getting things right the first time

Enjoy extracting insights from data and understanding how configuration impacts the broader business

Communicate clearly and ability to guide customers to align with policies and standard process

Can handle complexity, meet deadlines, and work independently when needed
