VicRoads is progressing too. In August 2022, we started on a new chapter when the Victorian State Government partnered with Aware Super, Australian Retirement Trust, and Macquarie Asset Management to operate registration and licensing services on its behalf.
We work collaboratively with the Victorian State Government to ensure we fulfill regulatory requirements, deliver State projects and safeguard customer data. The Victorian State Government retains sole responsibility for road access, infrastructure and safety.

We are seeking a talented and driven individual to join our dynamic Technology Operations team. As a team member, you will play a pivotal role in working with our business and helping to support and provide engineering services to the digital platform. About the Opportunity
The Lead Mobile Development is responsible for guiding the strategic and technical direction of our mobile platforms. Reporting to the Lead Front End Development, the role will provide hands-on leadership to a team of mobile developers to drive the design and delivery of high-performing, secure, and user-centric mobile applications.
- Mobile Engineering Development & Practice Leadership: Lead mobile architecture and technical decisions to ensure scalable, maintainable, and high-performing solutions. Actively contribute to development by building features, resolving issues, and optimizing performance.
- People Management: Manage and mentor a mobile development team, supporting their growth and fostering a collaborative, inclusive culture. Partner with stakeholders to align resourcing and capabilities with roadmap priorities.
- Strategic Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders to align mobile initiatives with business goals, influence the product roadmap, and ensure apps are intuitive, inclusive, and WCAG-compliant.
About you
You're a seasoned mobile engineer with over seven years of hands-on experience in native mobile application development. With deep expertise in Swift and Kotlin, you bring a strong understanding of mobile architecture, design patterns, and performance optimisation to every project. You're passionate about building high-quality, user-centric apps, and have a solid track record of developing and integrating with RESTful APIs, backend systems, and headless CMS platforms.
Your technical foundation is supported by a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field. You're well-versed in CI/CD tools and pipelines, and confident in using unit, UI, and integration testing frameworks to deliver reliable, scalable mobile solutions. You have a solid grasp of WCAG accessibility standards and inclusive design, and you work closely with design systems to ensure intuitive, accessible user experiences.
As a proven team leader, you have experience scaling and mentoring high-performing engineering teams in agile environments. You're a clear communicator, effective collaborator, and natural problem-solver who works comfortably across design, product, and business teams to align technical solutions with strategic goals.
You demonstrate a strong sense of ethics and integrity in your work, with a clear understanding of privacy, data security, and fraud and corruption prevention responsibilities. You actively contribute to maintaining a safe, secure, and accountable workplace by complying with policies, reporting concerns, and fostering a culture of integrity.
