About the Role

We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Operations Manager to join our team and lead the delivery of exceptional member experiences across all our locations. This hands-on role combines operational leadership, facilities management, and process optimisation to ensure The Commons’ spaces run smoothly, reliably, and in line with our high standards. You’ll take ownership of building operations, lead vendor and contractor relationships, and support our team to deliver consistent, high-quality service. About You

You are a solutions-focused leader with a background in operations, facilities, or workspace management. You thrive in fast-paced environments and are passionate about creating spaces where both teams and members feel supported. With strong communication skills and attention to detail, you can manage multiple projects at once, build strong vendor relationships, and elevate operational standards through coaching, collaboration, and clear documentation. You lead by example and have a knack for turning complex problems into clear, effective systems.


The main duties of the role include but are not limited to the below:


Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence

  • Own and continuously improve operating procedures across locations
  • Ensure consistency and excellence in member services, onboarding & issue resolution
  • Create, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training manuals
  • Support internal teams through change communication and rollout of new processes

Facilities Management

  • Oversee the physical upkeep of all sites, including building maintenance, utilities, cleanliness, and safety
  • Act as a key escalation point for facilities issues, working closely with the site-based teams
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, building codes, and insurance requirements
  • Lead and support Facilities team members to uphold workspace quality

Contractor & Vendor Management

  • Manage relationships with trades, cleaners, maintenance providers, and other external vendors
  • Oversee contractor scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, and quality assurance
  • Source new vendors as needed to improve cost, reliability, and service standards

Team Leadership & Training

  • Collaborate closely with Community Managers and onsite teams
  • Develop and deliver training on operations and workspace protocols
  • Act as a go-to for troubleshooting and operational escalation

Quality Assurance & Performance Monitoring

  • Conduct regular audits of workspace quality and safety
  • Establish and monitor KPIs related to service delivery & maintenance response times
  • Implement feedback loops to continuously improve member experience and operational performance


Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years in operations, facilities, or workspace management
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Proven ability to develop and implement SOPs & optimise operational workflows
  • Solid understanding of compliance, building maintenance, and OH&S standards
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Confident communicator with the ability to train, mentor & collaborate
  • Impeccable organisation & prioritisation skills
  • Proficiency in G-Suite and operational platforms; familiarity with tools like Slack and Asana is a plus.
