The opportunity
This is a supervisory position primarily focused on managing our inventory, ensuring accuracy, and optimising our stock levels throughout the day. Throughout the day, , you'll step into a broader supervisory role, taking charge of all departments, including our picking and packing operations, to ensure efficient workflow and timely dispatch of orders.
This position is suitable for an individual who has experience across an entire warehouse and is data driven and would make commercially astute decisions, have an analytical mind with the ability to articulate and communicate, both verbally and written, making recommendations with an analytical solution based focus.
What you’ll be doing
Inventory Management Primary Focus:
- Maintain a safe environment at all times. This is demonstrated by identifying, assessing and mitigating workplace hazards, creating a secure and compliant environment for all employees.
- Providing exceptional customer experience by ensuring we provide timely service and delivery to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Ensure all staff are inducted and compliant with all WHS and company policies as well as any legislative requirements.
- Ensuring staff are following standard operating procedures and meeting operational requirements throughout their KPIs and values alignment.
- Ensure that inventory is available in the right locations at all times to service customer needs through accurate inventory records and resolving discrepancies.
- Support management team in monitoring effective and correct cycle counts are being completed.
- Support site on key projects regarding pick face optimisation.
- Identify and monitor stock accuracy issues and products approaching expiry dates. Identify root causes of the expiry dates and the stock accuracy issues.
- Monitor new SKUs and ensure these are priority zoned.
- Oversee Issue resolution - missing items, reasons for damages, stock cycling for expiry dates
- Efficiency recommendations based on sales for pick runs as well as efficiency from replenishment and put away.
- Clear operational plan for put away and storage requirements for containers and bulk purchases
- Provide leadership and oversight to the employees working through the evening including staff in other departments.
- Using a continuous learning methodology to understand and evaluate current processes end to end, with the ability to improve, create, publish and maintain SOP’s for the role. The end goal is to implement more simple and efficient processes.
- Contribute to operational strategic plans; implementing productivity and quality standards and identifying system improvements. This would include working with IT to implement projects such as EDI, automated planning processes etc.
- Execute strategic plans as communicated by the Inventory Manager
- Ensure all inventory and stock management systems are maintained accurately, within the agreed parameters and in real-time.
- Reporting - Weekly and monthly review of stock loss and reasons and actions to address the root causes.
- Other tasks as required by the management team.
Evening Operations Supervision (Approximately 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM):
- Maintain a safe and productive work environment.
- Supervise and coordinate all departmental activities, including picking, packing, and dispatch.
- Address any operational issues or challenges that arise during the shift.
- Driving team to meet daily KPIs.
The ideal toolbox
- Proven experience in inventory management and warehouse operations.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of Excel and problem solving skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in inventory management software/systems.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
Role location
This role is based in our Victoria Warehouse in Tarneit, VIC 3029.
