About the role:

The Principal Automation Systems Engineer plays a key role in shaping and uplifting the quality, security, and innovation of major technology initiatives across Origin’s Integrated Gas portfolio.

As a trusted advisor and technical expert, the role supports strategic delivery by driving best practices, enabling continuous improvement, and ensuring the business stays ahead of emerging digital, automation, and cyber trends.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver key automation value streams , ensuring alignment with long-term roadmaps, funding, and business outcomes.
• Collaborate with senior technical authorities and stakeholders to support planning and execution of strategic initiatives across automation, cyber, and digital domains.
• Conduct reviews and provide assurance on initiatives to ensure compliance with best practices, security standards, and delivery expectations.
• Champion innovation and emerging technologies , driving continuous improvement in automation, cybersecurity, and digital transformation.
• Provide expert advisory and guidance , supporting high-quality, secure, and scalable project outcomes.
• Build internal capability through workshops and training , and maintain technical resources and best practice documentation.
• Monitor industry trends and risks , and lead audits to identify gaps and recommend corrective actions.
  
  
  

Skills & Requirements

• Proven experience leading automation, cyber, or digital transformation initiatives.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and advisory skills, including cross-functional collaboration.
• Expertise in reviewing technical solutions for compliance with best practices and security standards.
• Deep understanding of emerging technologies and innovation in automation and cybersecurity.
• Ability to deliver strategic roadmaps and align delivery with business goals and budgets.
• Strong capability building and knowledge-sharing skills, including designing and delivering training.
• Analytical mindset with experience in risk assessment, auditing, and continuous improvement practices.
