Job Description
We are currently seeking a dedicated HSQE Advisor to join the team based in the Bowen basin. In this crucial role you will ensure that all HSQE policies, procedures and standards are effectively implemented and maintained, promoting a culture of safety and compliance across our operations.
Thie particular role will see you maintaining of HSQE systems and data recording, while assisting sites with compliance to Civeo’s Integrated Management System and further developing a positive people-based safety culture. Including development of training and procedures, investigating incidents, conducting audits and site inspections, monitoring and reporting on HSQE performance.
This will be a DIDO role, with a work schedule of 8 days on, 6 days off with extensive travel to our Queensland Villages. This will ideally suit candidates based in the Mackay and Fitzroy regions.

The position of HSQE Advisor is a key role within Civeo Divisions. It is imperative that all employees be managed in all aspects of Health Safety Quality and Environment. The role is to ensure that all HSQE, Risk and Injury aspects of the Business Units are controlled and managed.

Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain health, safety and quality and environmental management systems in line with legal and company requirements
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with HSQE policies
- Assist in coordinating and conducting induction and HSQE training programs for staff
- Identify and assess potential hazards, ensuring that risk assessments are carried out and updated as necessary
- Provide guidance and training to staff on HSQE best practices, regulations and procedures
- Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to promote continuous improvement in HSQE performance
- Stay up to date with relevant regulations and industry standards to ensure ongoing compliance
- Certificate IV or equivalent in Workplace Health & Safety
- Diploma in Workplace Health & Safety (desirable)
- Other desirable qualifications include; Lead Auditor, Training & Assessment, Risk Management, Food Safety
- First Aid
- Current Driver’s License
- Proven track record of successful implementation of initiatives or improvements with frontline workforce
- Understanding of Quality ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and Environment 14001 would be an advantage.
- Experience in workforce accommodation or similar industry (desirable)
- Ability to ensure accuracy of data entry, data analysis, reporting and recording
- Ability to build and maintain positive work relationships
- Personal standards of confidentiality, honesty and integrity

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The position of HSQE Advisor is a key role within Civeo Divisions. It is imperative that all employees be managed in all aspects of Health Safety Quality and Environment. The role is to ensure that all HSQE, Risk and Injury aspects of the Business Units are controlled and managed.
- Assist in coordinating the implementation and maintenance of the HSQE Management System (IMS) on site.
- Complete all reporting required for weekly/monthly HSQE report
- Assist with, perform and co-ordinate risk assessments.
- Assist in developing work instructions/safe work procedures.
- Assist in developing controls to resolve HSQE issues in the workplace
- Carry out and co-ordinate regular HSQE audits, assessments and site inspections
- Assist in accident/incident investigations and maintain records and statistics
- Co-ordinate the corrective action system and maintain records
- Ensure that the key learning’s from incident investigations are communicated with the workforce.
- Ensure that significant incidents are reported to other divisions within the business for the purpose of sharing key learning’s.
- Assist in co-ordinating and conducting induction and HSQE training programs for staff
- Co-ordinate and participate in HSQE committee meetings and toolbox meetings
- Keep track of the performance and statistics for the business and discuss with management areas in need of focus.
- Assist in identifying key HSQE messages to be delivered to the workforce at appropriate times.
- Assist with improving the communication of key HSQE messages to the total workforce.
- Assist with management of the Drug & Alcohol policy and procedure.
- Assist with the development of HSQE campaigns targeting key risk areas for the business.
- Assist in ensuring the site objectives and targets are implemented on time and are maintained.
- Maintain the site risk assessment plan and ensure risk assessments are performed when due or when processes, equipment or work methods change. Conduct risk assessments after incidents/injuries.
- Assist in developing controls for hazards/risks identified during risk assessments, audits, issues raised by workers and workplace inspections.
- Ensure audits are conducted on time, keep audit records and conduct audits and site inspections on a regular basis.
- Assist in ensuring site incidents/injuries are reported and documented, records are maintained, incidents/injuries are investigated, and corrective actions are implemented.
- Monitor corrective actions and ensure they are actioned by the due or proposed completion date.
- Assist site management to develop work instructions/safe work procedures and safety plans. Review the work instructions and safety plans on a regular basis.
- Undergo Fire Safety Advisor training and perform Fire Safety Advisor duties.
- Develop site emergency response plans and conduct training and drills with management, employees and contractors.
- To ensure all health, safety, quality and environmental standards and legislation are strictly met, ensuring a safe environment for employees, customers, contractors and visitors, and promptly reporting any issues, potential issues or near miss events.
- Identify, prevent and report potential workplace emergency situations.
- Ensure workplace emergency prevention procedures, systems and processes are implemented.
- Manage and monitor workplace emergency, procedures, equipment and other resources.
- Respond to workplace emergencies.
- Operate as part of an emergency control organisation.
- Assist with the management of the emergency control organisation.
- Confine small workplace emergencies.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Professional Qualifications
- Tertiary/T.A.F.E. Relevant Tertiary Qualifications and/or Education in the following disciplines:
- Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Management (desirable)
- Risk Management qualification or equivalent(desirable)
- Certificate IV (or equivalent) in Occupational Safety & Health
- Qualification in Auditing and or equivalent (desirable)
- Certificate IV (or equivalent) in Training and Assessment (desirable)
- Current Drivers Licence
- Understanding of relevant Work Health & Safety (WHS) and Workers Compensation Regulations and Legislation.
- Understanding of Quality ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and Environment 14001 would be an advantage
- Understand Civeo Operational business and operational performance parameters.
- Understand company and management obligations to the customer/s.
- Understanding of all Legislations and Policies pertaining to the business.
