Your New Role
Reporting to the Chief Member Officer, the Head of Governance and Accountability is the Senior Leader responsible for ensuring all activity within the Member Domain meets all compliance and regulatory requirements. Additionally, this role ensures all Member activity is executed in line with the Fund's risk management framework.
The Head of Governance and Accountability works cohesively across the Member Domain and into the Fund to educate, inform and ensure adherence to external regulation. This includes keeping abreast of changes in the regulatory landscape in which the Fund operates and promote a compliance mindset throughout the Domain. The successful applicant will have deep industry leadership, knowledge and experience on all aspects of the governance and regulatory frameworks underpinning the industry, and be able to translate requirements through the Domain to encourage and build a culture of compliance.
Key duties include but are not limited to
Risk
- Lead all first line risk activities for the Member facing functions in line with the Fund's risk management framework. This includes identify risk, risk profiling and overseeing incidents through to resolution,
- Provide subject matter expertise to the Member Domain to ensure all activity is executed with appropriate risk considerations and in accordance with regulatory and Fund requirements.
Compliance
- Provide a skilled and sufficiently resourced business centric compliance review service to Member domain colleagues, including for compliance review of new initiative and externally facing marketing and communications
- Support obligation owners to oversee and manage their obligations
- Support regulatory and legislative changes so that they are understood and integrated into the delivery of Member related activity.
Governance & Reporting
- Lead all reporting that is required to demonstrate the Member Domain's alignment to the Fund's risk and governance frameworks.
- Provide insight driven reporting that enables domain colleagues to to monitor the risk and control environment, make appropriate risk-based decisions and take timely actions when needed.
- Lead the management of the domain's policy ecosystem
- Ensure CMO FAR Accountabilities are supported by reasonable steps that are well managed and documented
- Lead the operation of key decision-making forums in Member, including the Member Proposition Committee
What You'll Need
- Tertiary qualifications in a commerce, finance, business or risk governance
- Hold an accreditation in Risk Management from a recognised body like Risk Management Institute of Australasia (RMIA) or Governance Institute of Australia (GIA), or be willing to obtain one after joining AustralianSuper.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and translate external regulatory requirements to shape business outcomes
- Ability to influence broadly to ensure alignment to requirements while delivery on commercial imperatives
- Demonstrated ability to lead diverse and dispersed teams to deliver on a strategy.
- Ability to negotiate and finalise outcomes with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external, to co-create outcomes
- Business hygiene including the ability to manage a departmental budget, workforce planning and cost-efficiencies
