About The Role

We are seeking a passionate and driven Strategy Advisor to join our dedicated team and help steer our city's trajectory towards success. Your primary focus will be on developing, implementing, and evaluating cultural and economic policies and strategies. Collaborating across council and with external stakeholders, you will provide strategic advice on a range of priority issues and effectively communicate changes through various channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • develop and coordinate key cultural and economic strategies, policies and action plans
  • support major cultural and economic development projects from engagement, development, implementation, completion and evaluation phases
  • research, consult, and deliver rigorous analysis of key cultural and economic issues and opportunities identified in the local government area while responding to global and national trends
  • design, plan, collaborate and coordinate implementation activities that give effect to the cultural and economic strategies and plans, strategies and policies arising from it, engaging multiple business units across the organisation. establish and maintain effective strategic relationships, linkages and partnerships to achieve cultural and economic development outcomes, including relationships with business and industry, peak bodies, across all levels of government, non-government organisations and other identified stakeholders
  • measure and report on the effectiveness of the City’s cultural and economic development programs and projects to achieve the strategic outcomes of the City. Provide thought leadership that helps position the City as a catalyst for cultural and economic growth, sustainability, inclusivity, innovation and quality experiences
  • measure and report on the effectiveness of economic development programs, ensuring our strategies are delivering tangible results for the city
  • drive thought leadership initiatives that position the City as a leader in sustainable, inclusive and innovative economic growth.


We're Looking For Someone With

  • demonstrated ability to build strong, pragmatic working relationships that translate strategic objectives into implementable projects and programs
  • proven experience in managing complex stakeholder environments, including the ability to influence, consult, and communicate effectively across multiple levels
  • strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and distil complex information into actionable insights, proposed solutions, or clearly defined issues
  • excellent project management skills, with a track record of delivering multiple projects on time and to agreed milestones
  • high level of initiative and persistence in driving projects forward, with the ability to establish and maintain momentum in dynamic and evolving environments.

This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
