The Opportunity
As a Senior Control Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, integration, and delivery of control and automation systems specifically for water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to support major water utility programs, while also contributing to new pursuits across Queensland and beyond.
This role offers a balanced mix of technical delivery and project/design management, ideal for someone ready to step into a leadership role while remaining hands-on in water utilities projects.
What We’ll Love About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Control Systems, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status is essential; RPEQ registration highly desirable.
- 5–15 years of experience delivering control systems specifically within water utilities, water treatment, or wastewater management sectors.
- Proven expertise in specification, concept and detailed design, testing, and commissioning of control systems for water infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of DCS, PLC, SIS, SCADA systems, instrumentation, and actuators used in water and wastewater environments.
- Experience with functional safety standards and hazardous area requirements relevant to water utilities is highly desirable.
- Ability to prepare designs, drawings, specifications, technical reports, and conduct audits and due diligence within water projects.
- Experience managing medium-complexity projects and leading teams, including mentoring junior engineers.
- Strong client focus with a track record in business development, proposal preparation, and client relationship management in the water sector.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Collaborative mindset and passion for delivering safe, high-quality, and commercially sound water infrastructure outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to work consultatively with stakeholders, including influencing senior leaders and managing competing priorities.
