About Bodd

  • Bodd is a rapidly growing 3D body scanning and data company, homegrown in Australia.
  • More than a scan, our technology captures ultra-rich body data, enabling brands to deliver highly personalised consumer experiences.
  • Consumers can give explicit permission to brands they share their body data with, across a variety of industries from apparel, to health and fitness through to medical and pharmaceutical.
  • Bodd is taking its tech to the world, currently deploying in all corners of the globe. The business has been awarded AFR BOSS Magazine’s Most Innovative Tech Company and also named Company of the Year by the Australian Pause Awards.
  • The business is in an exciting high growth phase. After a number of years in R&D, the business is commercialising its technology, expanding in Australia, North America, Europe and the Middle East.
  • Bodd’s hardware units are manufactured right here in Melbourne with Bosch and associated software has been developed in collaboration with some of Australia's leading academic institutions.
  • We’re an ambitious yet humble group of technologists and entrepreneurs, looking to do big things in the world.

About The Role

  • You are not only a UX and UI designer but also a problem solver. Once you identify a painful workflow for a customer (or fellow team member), you are driven to come up with a solution, prototyping concepts to test before jumping into development with the engineering teams. You are also able to run design-related projects independently while keeping your manager up to date with the progress.
  • Aware of technical constraints at times, that doesn’t keep you from proposing product solutions that customers will find easy to use and understand. You are excited by transforming traditional workflows into digital workflows, innovating in niche spaces and improving efficiency. You’re looking forward to dipping your toes into a product experience that involves hardware and software that can integrate with traditional workflows in industries like uniforms, retail, and wellness.
  • Prototyping ideas is key for this role. Lo-fi, hi-fi, from print-outs to spreadsheets to Figma: you can use anything to test theories or concepts and get an idea across. You take advantage of the various expertise and skill sets of other team members to use their strengths and come up with solutions together.
  • You are a doer: you are able to run with the problem or challenge on hand. Once goals are set, you can plan and find the information you need, identify the resources required, and execute what needs to be done to test and validate ideas.
  • You’re not afraid to get your hands dirty (digitally and physically), do the research required, use any tool for prototyping (they don’t need to look sexy but still necessary to validate and test ideas), and work with others to get things done.
  • Last but not the least, you are excited by an opportunity to make a difference and disrupt an industry that relies on traditional processes. Our product offering is unique in the space of uniforms, sizing, and 3D technology: it is a one-stop-shop, a complete end-to-end solution for our clients. Your experience and skillset will elevate our product experience into the level it needs to service high-profile clients in airline, wellness, military, and other industries globally.
  • When introducing yourself in your application, please briefly describe some examples of problem spaces that you’ve been immersed in and solved, your process for finding a solution, and how projects performed once it’s been in front of customers.

Skills And Responsibilities

  • Service design: identify core business problems and design workflows to solve the
  • Prototyping: use different tools to prototype solutions for our web app and 3D scanner software
  • UX/UI design: execute a full design process, from concepts to prototyping to delivery of assets to engineers. Motion design skills are nice to have to add an extra “wow” factor in the user experience.
  • Collaboration: work closely with garment technicians, measurement researchers, hardware and software engineers to deliver new solutions. Work alongside brand design companies or video editing companies to deliver assets required in all parts of the user journey
  • Documentation and support: contribute to documenting product features and workflows

The applicant will need the following attributes:

  • Problem solver and able to think outside the box: we are tackling challenges in niche industries and you are flexible with your toolset in order to test ideas.

  • Learner and collaborator: you work well with specialists in other disciplines. You’re able to pick up new concepts quickly, open to fresh ideas, able to listen to team members and customers, and work around constraints but still deliver a working solution that’s easy to use and understand.
  • Experience in research and testing: whether it’s surveys or interviews, designing your own research sessions or getting team members to test prototypes – you will do
  • anything to validate an idea.
  • Experience in end-to-end product delivery: you have been involved in the launch of a feature or product from ideation to release, including tracking or improving results.
  • We are looking for a creative generalist: you don’t have to specialise in all the skill sets required, but you are able to work with different toolsets to design solutions for our customers and clients.
