At InterContinental Adelaide, our fine dining venue, Shiki, brings the art of Japanese cuisine to life through precision, passion, and performance. To deliver all this and more, we’re currently seeking a Demi Chef to join the award-winning team at Shiki, where every plate is a celebration of tradition, technique, and exceptional taste.

Your day-to-day:

As Demi Chef at Shiki, you'll play a vital role in delivering authentic and unforgettable dining experiences. Reporting to our Chef de Cuisine, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Preparing and presenting high-quality Japenses cuisine, making each meal a feast for the eyes.
  • Skillfully working on the Teppanyaki grill to create memorable experinces
  • Taking ownership for your workstation – keeping on top of supplies, equipment and waste
  • Being cleaner than clean to meet or exceed cleanliness and hygiene requirements to HACCP standards
  • Being a collaborative, reliable team member who contributes positively to the kitchen’s dynamic

What We're Looking For:

  • The flexibility to work night, weekend and holiday shifts
  • Have previous experience working Teppanyaki grill
  • Similar experience in a commercial kitchen - preferably within premium casual dining experience at a minimum
  • Qualifications in Commercial Cookery/Culinary Arts from a registered training provider
  • A strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations including your food safety certificate
  • Great communication – you’ll be warm, welcoming and easy to talk to
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritise workload
  • Right to legally work full time in Australia
  • The strength to lift, push and pull big objects up to 23 kg (50lbs) which can also involve bending and kneeling
