As our Design Manager, you’ll bridge the gap between architectural creativity and on-site constructability. You’ll lead the design process across a high-volume residential pipeline — ensuring that every plan enhances not only the living experience, but also construction efficiency, cost alignment, and repeatable delivery.

This isn’t a passive design role. You’ll be hands-on, collaborative, and solutions-focused — engaging with site teams, refining documentation, and embedding construction feedback into typical details, standards, and smarter ways of working.

The Role: What You’ll Lead and Deliver

• Oversee the design delivery of 60+ projects annually — spanning dual occupancies, custom builds, renovations, and secondary dwellings
• Manage and mentor external drafting consultants, ensuring timely, compliant, and cost-aware documentation
• Champion NCC compliance and robust documentation discipline across all design outputs
• Collaborate closely with estimating and site teams to ensure feasibility, clarity, and constructability
• Lead the creation of typical details, documentation standards, and templated outputs to improve repeatability and reduce variation
• Incorporate site feedback into ongoing design evolution — closing the loop between drawing board and delivery
• Support efficient project handover, working with the New Business and Project Management teams to transition from design to execution seamlessly
  
  

About You

• Experienced architect or Senior Draftsperson (min. 8 years’ experience), with strong residential Class 1A/B experience
• Solution-oriented and commercially aware — you design with budgets, timeframes, and delivery in mind
• Confident managing drafting consultants and internal design workflows across multiple concurrent projects
• Skilled in ArchiCAD (or similar BIM software), with a deep understanding of NCC, DCPs, and council processes
• Passionate about systemising design — creating templates, details, and standards that support scale and consistency
• Comfortable walking sites, engaging with trades, and learning from the ground up
• Driven by outcomes, clarity, and continuous improvement
